Day 30 - Inspired by a Tutorial

Day 30 of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge is actually here. Phew... I did it! I actually made it through the entire challenge. LOL Well, between me and myself I am still debating over the 31st day - a recreation of a manicure I love. Should I do it? Can I let it pass? I suppose tomorrow will tell. For now I have a very photo-heavy post for you, and the nail art is inspired by a tutorial that was actually made per my request. How could I not do it?
So first, please allow me to say a big THANK YOU to Mati from Criminal Nails. A little while ago she made this tutorial for me of the Saran Wrap Manicure. I tried to dupe this mani of hers, but I chose colors that are not contrasted enough I'm afraid. This is my result:

Day 29 - The Supernatural

The 29th day! WOW!! The 30 Days of Untried Challenge is almost done!
Well, today I am inspired by the supernatural and I really like this mani. EXTERMINATE!!!

Day 28 - Inspired by a flag

Hello again! I'm sorry for posting again so soon but... I already have a pile of so many things I want to show you, that I really need to get going! So I will show you my mani for the Flag inspiration, on day 28 of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge right now.

Day 27 - Inspired by Artwork

For the 27th day of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge I have a recreation with untried polishes of an old mani of mine, that I never got to post here. and it is both inspired by an artwork and a tutorial, but I will only use it once.

Day 26 - Inspired by a Pattern

For today's post in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge, I wanted to use my new Essie - Lapiz Of Luxury. The second I laid my eyes on that one I fell in love. Well, that do happen a lot to me when it comes to nail polish, but still... that blue with a hint of purple just captured me. So this is my pattern and it is the first post in this challenge where absolutely none of the polishes in it was tried before.

Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

Hard to believe but it is day 25 already! 5 more days and the 30 Days of Untried Challenge is done!
So today I had to get my inspiration in fashion. Not my field really, fashion that is. So I googled some. Mostly students fashion, and this is what I came up with.

Where in the world - Canada

I am so behind on my Where in the world challenge posts... How embarrassing... I will give a push on this one when I will be done with the 30 Days of Untried Challenge. I promise!
Anyway, today I would like to show you my entry for Canada. Since I took part of a collaboration post on Canada Day not long ago, I didn't want to repeat myself. But as I was thinking of inspiration, I realized I have this amazing polish I still haven't showed you, and it's by Girly Bits who is... Canadian! Perfect!
Girly Bits - Sailors Delight

Day 24 - Inspired by a Book

Today's post in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge is dedicated to a book I read more then once and I loved every bit of it - but there is no way I could read again today. I am based on the Hebrew version so you might not recognize it at first but give it a try ;-)

Day 23 - Inspired by a movie

Today I have decided to go for a different thing. It is still untried by me so I think it counts, even though it is not a polish.

Day 22 - Inspired by a Song

This song is stuck in my mind from the very beginning of 30 Days of Untried Challenge. Quite annoying I would say. I hope that posting about it now will finally take it off! My inspirational song is Bird On A Wire by Leonard Cohen. This song has way too many versions, but I prefer the original. I think it's the best.

Illamasqua - Raindrops and Essie - Bikini So Teeny

Right now you were suppose to see my entry for day 22 of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge, a mani inspired by a song. Don't worry, you will get to see it right after this post! I just didn't want to have so many pictures in one post but I thought both the polishes I tried for this entry worth a post of their own.  so I will start with a review post and then I will show you my song inspired mani.

First polish I would like to show you is Essie - Bikini So Teeny.

Day 21 - Inspired by Color

Oh wow... I am completely overwhelmed with the amount of new followers and wonderful wonderful comments I am receiving! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!

This post for the 21st day of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge was suppose to be published last night. But I had a very long day yesterday and by the time I finished preparing everything... I fell asleep. But you know how they say - better late then never? So here's my color inspired mani. I was inspired by this post by my friend Gosia from Life In Color!

Day 20 - Water Marble

I was dreading this day in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge. Water Marble. One of my biggest fears. It's terribly messy, time consuming and real hard to make it look good. It's all about the technique really, and mine just suck. But a water marble it should have been - and a water marble it is. Oh, and one untried polish too - China Glaze Rainbow.
So I started with some sponging. At least that's a technique I can handle.

Where in the world - Australia

Finally!! Finally I got my chance to complete my Australian inspired manicure for the Where In The World challenge. My initial idea was a Koala.  But when I tried I figured I better not. My Koala looked more like an alien with a burnt-out match for a nose. So I went with something completely different: The Aboriginal art.

Day 19 - Galaxies

After the last day of my 30 Days of Untried Challenge with its lame half moon, today I really enjoyed my mani. I do realize there are some things need to be fixing, but I truly enjoyed doing this mani and I truly enjoyed wearing it!

Day 18 - Half Moons

I feel so lucky I have a holiday now. This lets me redo my mani if it doesn't work out. Of course, there's always the option that it's not working out and I have to redo it BECAUSE I have a holiday and not vice versa. You know - like, you waste your time completely if you have time to waste. But you manage to do everything you need, when your time is limited. Isn't it?
Anyway, we've come to day 18 of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge and I was working on my half moon with a certain idea in my head. This is how it started:

Day 17 - Glitter

Day 17 already! wow how time flies and I still keep up with the 30 Days of Untried Challenge. Who would believe...
Today I would like to show you just a swatch. No nail art. But in my opinion this polish is a work of art all by itself. From my most favorite indie creator this is The Nail Junkie's Fish.

Day 16 - Tribal

So we're passed the middle and I had another mani I needed to re-do twice. What will happen when I get to the real hard ones like Water Marble? So day 16 of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge requires me to do another Tribal design. This time I had no problem picking the colors. I knew exactly how I wanted them to be: My base color is Bourjois - Tangerine Fatal, a pretty coral color that could have been be pure perfection . It has the exact mix of pink and orange to create a gorgeous coral shade. It has a glossy creamy finish and it looks very pretty on the nails. Alas it is too thin. What you see here are four coats, and I can tell you that there is still some VNL under strong light.

Day 15 - Delicate Print

Oh wow, we're already half way through the 30 Days of Untried Challenge! How time flies!
So today i'm suppose to have a delicate print on my nails. I had terrible difficulties with this one. I re-did it maybe four times and wasn't happy with anything. No matter how hard I tried - it didn't look delicate to me. So I decided it's time for drastic measures and I took my nail-stickers out. And as I went through them, it hit me: Alter Ego - Beachcomber!

Day 14 - Flowers

I have no idea what went through my head when I picked this color at the store. I mean -it's green. And it's definitely not my green. I wonder if I could claim temporary insanity. But what suits a green polish more then flower themed mani? So I started my 14th entry in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge with a green base of Bourjios - Vert Chlorophylle.

Day 13 - Animal Print

This one is a polish I got a couple of weeks ago and I have been dying to try ever since, but I just didn't get the chance. And since it is from China Glaze - Safari collection, I thought it would be perfect for the animal print day in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge. Of course - it is holographic. I told you I was addicted ;-)

Day 12 - Stripes

Ok, I admit. My name is Jin and I am addicted to holo polish. There. I feel much better now! So let me show you some holo goodness in the 12th day of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge.
These are all by Pupa and I got them in my trip to Russia last month (damn, a month is almost over and I still haven't made my trip haul post!! I need to MOVE IT!!!). Actually, you already saw one of these in this post. But the other two remained untried - until today.

Day 11 - Polka Dots

Today, for day 11 of the 30 Days of Untried Challenge, I have something special to show you. I was supposed to make a polka dots mani. So I took my dotter out and started to think what I would do. I opened my Pink/Purple drawer and saw this little baby stands on the side looking a little sad. Immediately I knew this is my polka dots manicure, and I can't believe I haven't tried this beauty yet!
Dandy Nails - Come Out And Play

Day 10 - Gradient

Welcome to day 10 in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge! Today I will show you 4 purple/pink polishes - all untried. I don't really know why or how it happened but my pink/purple drawer holds the largest number of untried polishes. And since I need to gradient, what would make more sense then using polishes from that drawer?

Where in the World Challenge begins!

Hello everyone!!

This is a kind reminder for you all that tomorrow, Gosia at Life In Color! and myself will be launching our Where In The World nail art challenge!
In case you only got here, here are the challenge's official rules:

  1. The challenge will start on September 10.
  2. You may join us at any time along, but you must keep the original order of countries and without skipping. This is why it is called "A challenge", to differ it from a random country mani idea.
  3. There is NO time frame for each post, as long as it is in order. If you don't have time this week - you may work on your mani next week. No problem. As long as the order is kept.
  4. What should your mani look like? You decide. The country is your inspiration. How you represent it - it's up to you. It can be as simple as the polish name (e.g. OPI "Russian Navy" to Represent Russia), the country's flag mani, using a country's colors or even make a complicated artwork to represent a country. Your choice!
  5. The list of countries is set once the challenge takes off.
  6. Every country will have an inLinkz code so that everyone who participate can have a thumbnail link to their blog post, in every participant's post. If you play along - please email Me or Gosia so we can give you the code to put in your blog post.
Please note: if you add your link to the display but you don't put the code in your blog post to show all other participants, your link will be deleted without warning.

Now I can hardly wait to see everybody's entries! Are you ready???

Day 9 - Rainbow

For today in the 30 days of untried challenge,  I had to have a rainbow mani. But I also had this polish that I found in my drawer and was amazed at the fact I never tried it before. And when I put it on, at first, I wanted to use it as my metallic. But after looking at the pictures, I realized this was perfect for rainbow.
Aqua Daisy - Fuel Spill

Day 8 - Metallic

Day 8 in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge is disappointing. I bought this polish too mostly for it's bottle but also because it looked promising in name and color. This is Peripera Metallic Coral (P026).

Day 7 - Black And White

WOW, a whole week just passed in the 30 Days of Untried Challenge!! We're on already on day 7 which I dreaded a lot. Black and White nails... I really have some weird issue with it. I can love totally white nails and I can love totally black nails. I can get along pretty well with black and grey or with white and off white combos. But black and white? I just can't stand that on me! I just HAVE to have another color in between! So I was really worried about today's mani, but the awesome Michelle of Things I Love At The Moment just gave me the most wonderful idea for a B&W mani! Thank you Michelle so much ♥

IC Awareness Month

IC (Interstitial Cystitis) is a problem many people are not aware of. You can find more info on this problem here.  To raise awareness we color our nails teal and there is a nail art contest in the spirit of IC awareness over at Jenna's blog!  Make sure you get the rules and take a look at her awesome prizes.

To be honest, only recently I learnt what teal really is. In Hebrew, my language, those "in-between" colors don't really have common names and there is not much difference between teal and turquoise and any other blue-green shade. So I wasn't sure I even had a teal polish. But apparently - I do. Quite a few even.
So here are my teal mani's.

Day 6 - Z is for Zeus - Violet

What a perfect morning. I hope yours is as well!
Day 6 of The 30 Days of Untried Challenge is here and I have to show you my violet polish. This is really perfect because my violet polish is also one that starts with Z, the last one I am still missing in The Alphabet Challenge! Let me show you the lovely Zeus by Sinful Colors.

Diamonds on my nails!

I have something very very special to show you today.
You know I am taking part of the 30 Days Untried Challenge, right? and last night I showed you green polish. Well, Rachel from Polished Criminails did this real amazing green mani for this challenge. And I loved it so much, that I just HAD to try it too! And while I did, I decided to take some pics of every step on the way and then I assembled this tutorial so you can all see how easy it is and give it all a try!

Day 5 - Blue

This 30 Days Challenge is really running, isn't it? We're already on day five!
The polish I would like to show you today is a surprise to me. I've head it for a while, but never really tried it. And why is it a surprise you ask? because its... HOLO!!!
Yes, I have to admit: my name is Jin and I have a very bad addiction to holographic polish. If it's holo - it's welcome. And I don;t care if it's a color that I like or not, if it suits me or not - nothing. Holo - here!
So why I never got to try this polish? I dunno... I just didn't think it was really noticeable on that department I guess. Google swatches that I saw were nice but not this... clever. And now I seriously thank all of you beautiful ladies who got me into doing this challenge!

ok, enough with the talking: say hello to China Glaze - High Def:

Day 4 - Green

Another day has gone by and we're already on day 4 of the 30 Days Untried Challenge, the green.
If you are following me for a little while you know I am no fan of greens. I only buy very specific shades of green so it is quite hard to find a green untried polish in my Helmer. But I almost forgot about one that I got a while ago. This is a polish that I got not for it's color, but for it's bottle. So today is just the perfect opportunity to actually try it on. Please welcome to this stage: Peripera - Satin Green (P045).

Day 3 - Yellow

Hello again!
I am now with my new post for the 30 Days Untried Challenge, and I would like to show you my yellow mani. First the polish itself - Jaune Trendy by Bourjois.

My guest post at LuvMyLacquer!

Jess from Luv My Lacquer just had a baby girl - Gabrielle. Congratulations Jess
To be able celebrate this wonderful event with her family and to get used to the new baby in the house, Jess had to clear lot's of time for herself, so she asked several bloggers, myself included, to help her out by writing guest posts. A great help for her - a great opportunity for me. A win-win situation.

This is the girly-girl mani I made in honor of young Gabrielle:
Zoya - Sweet

Please head over to Jess - Luv My Lacquer blog to see my guest post! While you're at it, make sure you follow her. She has such cool nail art!!!

And while you're reading, I will be working on my Yellow entry for the 30 days challenge ;-)

Y is for You Set My Soul Alight

So today before I get home and put on my untried yellow polish for the 30 Days Untried Challenge, I will quickly show you pure awesomeness: for the letter Y in The Alphabet Challenge I would like to show you the amazing You Set My Soul Alight by Dandy Nails.

The 30 days challenge of untried

It was peer pressure really. The 30 days challenge is a challenge I really wanted to do for quite some time  but I never had the courage to make such commitment before. Then I saw so many of my blogger friends start the challenge this weekend, so with the pride I still carry of me actually completing (well, almost) The Alphabet Challenge, I decided I could do it. So starting today I will join in the fun and show you 30 manis of my yet untried polish.

Don't worry, you will get to see the last 2 posts I am still missing in the Alphabet and you will see my posts for the Where in the world challenge and you will see some swatches of new and awesome polishes that I got. And as much as I can, I will try to combine posts. But most likely, at times, especially this month, you will see more then one post a day.
I hope.
